Users review: First of all, watch this Finding Fanny in English if possible & not the Hindi Dubbed version. The English version is better.Its a niche film & if you like full on bollywood masala crap, this movie is not for you. Its for an intelligent audience. It has brilliant performance from veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur & Dimple Kapadia. Young actors Deepika Padukone & Arjun Kapoor surprisingly hold their own in front of these veterans, also their chemistry is very refreshing.The screenplay & direction by Homi Adjania is quirky & amazing. I remember I was a little disappointed with his last film Cocktail because I was not expecting something like that from him after the mind-blowing Being Cyrus (which again was an off-beat film). But after watching Finding Fanny I can say that hes back to being his old self which is a good thing. We need more directors like him & more intelligent cinema than mindless masala crap which bollywood serves these days.A special mention for Deepika who not only looks breathtakingly beautiful but also gave another fine performance. After her 4 back to back superhits past year, I wasnt expecting Deepika to do a niche film like Finding Fanny but I was wrong. By doing a film like Finding Fanny which guarantees critical acclaim but not box office success, Deepika has proved that shes not here just to make money but wants to do meaningful films & give a great performance.

Users review: That Awkward Moment is a romantic/sex comedy about three male best friends in their twenties living in New York City. Two of them, Jason (Zac Efron) and Daniel (Miles Teller), work all book cover designers in a publishing house. The other, Mikey (Michael B. Jordan), is an emergency room doctor. While Jason and Daniel are happily swinging singles with their rosters of girlfriends, Mikey has just been told by his wife that she wants a divorce. All three guys promise to each other that they would all remain single together. Unknown to his friends though, Mikey strove to revive his marriage with wife Vera (Jessica Lucas). On the other hand, Jason meets and gets close to a new girl Ellie (Imogen Poots). Daniel begins to see his BFF- and pick-up partner Chelsea (Mackenzie Davis) in a different light. Can all three yuppies actually keep steadfast in their fraternal pledge?Zac Efron is undeniably fit for this charming yet shallow and arrogant character. It seems though that he had a step backward from his serious portrayals in The Paper Boy and Parkland to find himself in rather embarrassing scenes in the first third of the film (they were funny though). However, in the final third, Zac was more in his element. His final monologue alone reaffirms his status as romantic lead. This was despite my opinion that his Jason and Ellie do not really jive together.Miles Teller plays the raunchy, noisy, annoying friend here. He is the funniest and the most relaxed of the three main actors. He remains very likable despite his smart-alecky character, coming across as a young Andrew McCarthy. His chemistry with his partner Mackenzie Davis was the best of the three pairs in the film. Michael B. Jordan is fresh from his acclaimed performance last year as an ill-fated ex-con in Fruitvale Station. His character is the most stable of the three friends, and his character does not really get too idiotic situations. He finds himself in more dramatic than comic moments here, which makes his character feel like an odd man out.The comedy aspect was only occasionally hilarious when an actor makes a total fool of himself. There are two big comedy gimmicks here that will make this film memorable. One was when they show Zac and Miles try to pee while Viagra was still on full effect. The other was when Zac goes to Ellies birthday party with his awkward sense of dress up. Other than that, nothing really funny, more of annoying, grating and forced.The romantic aspect fared better. It was actually quite well-written, though treading on very familiar ground of male-female relationships and commitment phobia. When is going out just simply going out? The film was quite frank on scenes and language of a sexual nature though, with scenes of semi-nudity of the three actors. I was surprised to see this rated only R-13 locally. This should at least be an R-18 for me because maturity is required to properly understand this aspect of the film.

Users review: This is a fantastic follow up to Avengers/Thor. It was so much better than the first one it had good humour (like the first one) but also had good serious bits in it as well. It was nice to see more of Asgard now. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is a lot better this time around but Darcy got on my nerves quite a bit with all her sarcastic quotes. Hemsworth and Hiddleston were great and had great chemistry (as always). Alan Taylor (director) did a great job and he was the perfect person to get for this especially since how hes done Game of Thrones and at points you do think of GoT but in a good way. Overall great film with great performances from cast, good writing and great visuals. 9/10

Users review: As if Joseph Gordon-Levitt couldnt get any better. The former child star has turned into quite the up-and-coming young actor as hes worked to re-brand himself as something more than that kid from 3rd Rock From the Sun. Over the years, hes starred in such films as Brick, The Dark Knight Rises and Looper, and has proved to be the type of actor whom everyone loves - and who actually deserves that love. However, his most impressive performance to date might just be the one he gave behind the camera with Don Jon.The film marks Levitts first time writing and directing a feature- length film, and it makes one hell of an impression, especially because he tackles the lead role as well. Don Jon is one of those movies that has plenty of laughs and a few heartfelt moments, and its certainly entertaining. But it also touches on a few interesting social issues. I think Ill just go ahead and say it, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives away a few trade secrets, much to the horror of men everywhere: Don Jon touches on that dreadfully embarrassing fact that every guy is terrified will come out. What secret is that? Well, its probably best to put it in the words of the protagonist, Jon, himself: Every guy looks at porn, every day.Well, that last part might be a bit of an exaggeration, but Don Jon does bring up the point that pornography has become so readily available through the internet and even television that its just simply within arms reach at every single second of every single day, and every guy now and then reaches out to take a handful. However, society still treats it as something shameful and embarrassing, rather than a fact of life.Don Jon doesnt treat the use of pornography as something that should destroy relationships or cause significant others to fly off the handle in fits of jealousy. In fact, the movie seems to indicate, its a habit thats probably pretty healthy. That isnt to say that Jon has a healthy habit, as hes reduced to having to look at pornography constantly throughout the day, even after sex, but you know, thats an extreme example.Then again, maybe it isnt. Maybe the film offers a bit of a warning about how a little pornography is perfectly normal, but a lot can create a monster. Too much porn can make it so that its nearly impossible to connect with someone else on a meaningful level. After all, watching too much sex can create expectations that are as unrealistic as the ones the romantic comedies create.What really impressed me about Don Jon, though, are the performances that Levitt pulls out of his co-stars. Ive honestly never seen Scarlett Johansson give a better performance than she did as Jons trashy New Jersey girlfriend, Barbra. Shes absolutely despicable as she slowly begin to reveal her true intentions and tries to paint Jon as the bad guy when she discovers his addiction. On top of that, Tony Danza gives a side-splitting performance as Jons hot-headed father who gets into dick-measuring contest with his son every Sunday night (figurative, people, come on).However, the most impressive of them all is Levitt himself, who has repeatedly proved that he is one hell of an actor and one who has earned my trust as a moviegoer. The role is something so far from what I would have ever pictured him portraying, but he pulls it off beautifully as he plays the scumbag good-guy stereotype.Now for the hard part. I really enjoyed Don Jon. It strikes as a solid balance between art and entertainment, its filled with lots of laughs and it touches on a sensitive topic in a way that doesnt seem preachy. The ending is a little weak, but everything up until that is golden. However, Im not sure if its what one would call a date movie, since it will probably lead to inquisitive stares during a quiet car ride home afterward. And honestly, thats really too bad. Users review: I am so glad I didnt have to pay to see this movie and I had a gift card instead. This movie was terrible to say the least. I had very high expectations for this movie because I was such a huge fan of the first Anchorman. It seemed like the entire movie was just made up on the spot and filmed and there was no rehearsing at all. Im sure for a lot of people this was a highly anticipated movie and instead it was absolute crap. I have advised all of my friends to save their money for a better movie and rent it when it comes out if you must watch it. I definitely will not be buying this movie when it comes out. Very disappointed. Just do yourself a favor and go see Wolf of Wallstreet or something else. Worst Will Ferrell movie in a LONG time.

Users review: As good as the Shining was something I said to all around me as soon as the picture ended. Brilliantly conceived and executed. Fast paced action + beautifully shot + not too gory + a cast of characters you really cared about all combined to make this the best experience of jumping and screaming and laughing Ive seen from a bunch of experienced horror show aficionados I have ever seen. Good performances from all including the kids. Very unpredictable and wholly inventive storyline. Even the cleverest plots and safeguards will not defeat the pure evil of the Oculus.Very good effort from some brilliant and talented people.

Users review: Kat is a 17-year-old girl in the suburbs, growing up in the late 1980s and observing her parents dysfunctional marriage at close hand while trying to cope with first love, relationships, sex and friendships - all the growing pains that being 17 involves. When her mother disappears one day, the police think shes probably run off, perhaps with a boyfriend; Kat thinks her mother just got so fed up with her boring, empty, perfect-housewife life that she finally left it to find something better. Kat herself doesnt know how she feels about that; truly, she doesnt really feel much of anything, especially because her mother had recently been so intrusive in her life. Her father seems meek and lost after her mother leaves, but both of them will eventually have to pick up the pieces and go on. If only Kat would stop having those disturbing dreams about where her mother might be....This is really far more of a coming-of-age story than it is anything else; aside from some dream images, theres very little that would fit the term fantastical, even though I saw it at Montreals Fantasia Festival. There is some very fine acting, from Eva Green as the mother, Shailene Woodley as Kat, Christopher Meloni as Kats father and Thomas Jane as a police detective, and both writer/director Gregg Araki (from the novel by Laura Kasischke) and the cast do a very good job of capturing that confusing stage of adolescence, where one is not quite fully grown up but is certainly not at all a child anymore either. I very much enjoyed the film, even if Fantasia is an odd place to see it!

Users review: Not much thought on the surface but some very touching real life parts buried underneath. Pulling the tubes from her dead husbands body is a real life experience. The frustration of infidelity and infertility are real moments. Almost uncomfortable at times it pointed a light on my own childhood and the good times that were lost and forgotten among the bad. A very busy screen play with lots of sub-plots. Pay close attention and you will love this movie. If you only watch it on the surface, it is still enjoyable. Acting is admirable but casting might have found some better actors. Tina and Jane were both an unexpected surprises. They added a lot. I might watch it a second time after it hits DVD. I think I missed a lot because I wasnt expecting it. Kind of sneaks up on you.

Users review: First of all, I strongly disagree with any assertions that Frozen hearkens back to the great Disney films of the late 80s and early 90s. The music is nowhere near that level, and the storytelling is not nearly as sharp. Even suggesting that this is the best *since* The Lion King rings false with me. I have not seen every Disney film of the past twenty years, but offhand I can say that Tangled, Bolt and Meet the Robinsons are all far superior examples well-written stories than Frozen. In my personal opinion, of course.Second of all, Frozen definitely skews towards the younger crowd, with little to none of the sophisticated touches or wittily mature humor that have come to be somewhat more commonplace in recent animated films. This one is aimed at the pre-teen crowd. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but it is worth noting.The overall story is an interesting one, but the execution is rather sloppy and the narrative meanders a bit too much. The dialog, in particular, is not a strength. Unlike the best films, in which every line and every scene feels both essential and perfect, Frozen is more of a loose joyride. Again, there is nothing inherently wrong with that approach, but in my personal estimation, it earns lower marks as a storytelling method.The songs are for the most part unremarkable, and some of the musical sequences suffer from not fully committing to dialog or singing. They just feel hastily-choreographed and not fully thought out. And do not even get me started on the troll song. Yikes.Two of the songs, Do You Want to Build a Snowman and especially Let it Go, do work very well. The latter ties into what is unquestionably the best scene in the film on every level. It provides the one glimpse of true majesty, the sort of quality that would explain all of the extremely positive this is the greatest reviews that are being posted by others. Unfortunately, the film descends most of the way back into mediocrity after that scene.On the positive front, however, Frozen offers a fantastic, gorgeous take on the visual elements of winter. Deep blue ice, snowflakes, white mountains contrasting with colored skies. It is an unspeakably lovely display of a subject matter than CGI animation has never (in my experience) turned its energies to before, at least not like this. Of course, it goes without saying that all of the animation in Frozen, characters and landscapes alike, is excellent.For me, Tangled was much more satisfying than Frozen. I applaud Disney for honing their CGI skills, and for finally adapting The Snow Queen to screen. I just wish that they would have spent more time on the script.With films like this one, a distinction needs to be made between loving it for the visceral takeaway (it was sweet/it had a great message/it made me feel good) and looking at it from a critical standpoint. Now, I understand that one needs to just forget about being critical and enjoy a film - for me, the best films take care of that themselves. It is the ones, like Frozen, that seem like they clearly could have been much better, that get me thinking about just that.This film is a fun one for kids, and great to look at for adults, but it is far short of being great, or a masterpiece. More focus on an truly excellent story, and it might have been.

Users review: Some have cast doubts on the verisimilitude of parts of this picture. Of course, those who impugn whether some events really happened or whether they happened the way they are depicted in the movie neither underwent the kind of training Navy S.E.A.Ls do nor did they ever find themselves in circumstances remotely approaching those of the four comrades. We do not know what punishment the human body is truly capable of withstanding until we are put to an extreme test, gods forbid.All I can say is that, regardless of whether this movie is accurate 100%, 0% or anything in between, it brought me to tears. I can honestly not remember the last time a Hollywood movie did that.Very moving, very poignant, very touching. For that alone, as well as for keeping me riveted for the whole of two hours (which is quite a feat given my cynical and jaded nature), it deserves unalloyed plaudits.
